Biomaterials Laboratory
Myocardial Tissue Engineering
Bioengineered scaffolds populated with bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) were developed and used for myocardial tissue regeneration. Also, living cell sheets or spheroids of MSCs were developed and used for intramyocardial injection.
Drug-eluting Stent
Rapidly self-expandable drug-eluting stents made of biodegradable polymers were developed for treating the coronary arterial stenosis.
pH/Temperature Responsive Hydrogels
Novel pH/temperature responsive hydrogels were developed as carriers for oral drug delivery, intra-venous injection or intra-muscular implantation or as substrates for production of living cell sheets or spheroids.
Nanomedicine
Novel self-assembled nanoparticles conjugated with specific ligands were developed and used for targeting liver cancer
cells. Also, nanoparticles shelled with chitosan were prepared
by a simple ionic-gelation method for oral insulin delivery or transdermal gene delivery.
